Isabella Lobkowicz

Isabella is an Italian engineer, scientist and designer based in London. Her project Almost 100 Chairs for 100 People was born from an idea she first started as art book for Moleskine and was later translated into a design collection. She was wondering why chairs never represent the personality of who’s using them. “It’s curious how many designers design chairs, so many chairs, but nobody seems to think about the characters who are going to use them. Who is going to sit on a chair we design today? Will all human characters – with all their nuances – be satisfied by the very same backrest, four legs and seat? I don’t think so! I like the idea that by slightly modifying the legs, backrest and seat of a chair, I would be able to fit it to the person who’d sit on it. It all started with a bunch of drawings on a Moleskine notebook, and then they became a book published by Moleskine, and only now we achieved the long-time dream of sitting on the very chairs.”
